Context:

This video was created in 2023 after the implementation of a new Learning Management System (LMS) for the Division of Food, Nutrition and Wellness (FNW). As an Instructional Designer and Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator for the Department of Agriculture, one of my core responsibilities is to ensure the courses for the Division of Food, Nutrition and Wellness are functional and accessible to all internal and external users. During the summer of 2022, the division acquired a new LMS from Blackboard and a registration system from Genius Student Information System (SIS). As the division's LMS administrator, I migrated all user and course data from the previous LMS, Microsoft's LMS 365, to Blackboard and Genius SIS. Many of the division's users are returning users who complete courses annually. Therefore, the new system was confusing and unfamiliar to users. I received many calls and emails requesting assistance in navigating and accessing course content. I created this video tutorial to assist users and visually demonstrate how to register and enroll in courses.

Conditions

In creating this video, I employed step-by-step instructions regarding how to register, sign in, and enroll in the LMS courses. I then completed a screen capture using Articulate's Peek screen recorder, and I created the voice narration using Wellsaid Labs' text-to-speech generator. Finally, I used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the video and audio files together.

Scope

Once completed, the video was added to the division's Online Training webpage, where users may view it if they need visual guidance or are unable to receive immediate assistance. I have received numerous positive feedback from management and users for the creation of this video. Many have stated that the video was a great help in navigating the website as it addressed key points of confusion such as, the registration page, enrollment and course completion.
